It covers mainly open agricultural habitats dominated by rainfed cereal crops and pastures extended. Is benefited by traditional systems that receive certain landscape heterogeneity (legume fallows, wastelands, limits, etc.). Outside the breeding season, the little bustards tend to concentrate in areas with crops of alfalfa or some fallow, where they arrive form roosting.
Species in frank regression affected by changes in land use. During spring it is present in the “Lecks” in the drylands, and in winter the entire population in Catalonia hibernate in the irrigation area of Pla d’Urgell and Segrià. During the winter they also receive other birds from the small French population.
