The Citril Finch tends to colonize high places where the forests begin to disappear and the harsh climatic conditions give way to scrub and alpine meadows; is, therefore, a bird typical transition between habitats. It is often found over 1,600 meters, although in some locations is detected below 800. It prefers open areas with dense formations of pine, black pine, Scotch pine and even famous. Also installed frequently in the beech and outside the peninsula, in forests of spruce and pine Pinus mugo.

Common from 1.200 meters mostly in the Pyrenees, while in winter it can drop in elevation. The population of the Iberian system it can be seen in some parts of southern Catalonia.
