It is a bird associated to wetlands in warm climates, where selected areas of marsh vegetation (reeds, rushes, cattails, etc.) near surface and open water relatively clean.

The “Acrocephalus” more specific and associated with the Mediterranean environments. The breeding population is currently restricted to the Catalan Ebro Delta and a small, but increasing, wetlands centers in the plain of Lleida. Difficult to detect outside the breeding season with or without monitoring of bird ringing.
